The Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Greenville, NC & Play Greenville, NC Sports) would like to congratulate Rachel Whitten on her recent completion of East Carolina University’s 21st Century Leadership microcredential. The seven-course workshop series focuses on topics such as self-leadership, communication and vision-casting, influencing and negotiation, coaching and people development, coaching and people development, motivating and engaging people, leading teams, and building an inclusive culture.
“Professional development opportunities for our CVB staff is an important ingredient for the success of our organization,” stated Andrew Schmidt, President & CEO of Visit Greenville, NC. “Rachel’s graduation from ECU’s 21st Century Leadership program will not only help her excel in her role as Vice President of Sales & Services for Visit Greenville, NC, but also become a more effective member of the volunteer boards that she serves on.”
The leadership series is the first microcredential opportunity to be held through ECU’s new microcredential approval process and is offered through the ECU Office of Continuing and Professional Education. Whitten was part of the first cohort to complete this program, with a graduating class of 17 people.
“Throughout my career, leading up to my role as Vice President of Sales & Services for Visit and Play Greenville, NC, I’ve acquired many valuable tools,” Whitten states. “The investment my organization made by supporting my participation in this program has sharpened those tools and equipped me with new ones. These tools will enable me to further develop my team and strengthen relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the continued success and growth of our organization.”
